There are some weeks where you can put yourself on auto pilot, cruise & simply go with the flow, and there are other weeks you work in over drive, push the limits and create the flow. Both are an equally important part of the process, listen to your body and cruise when you can, but push when you need to 👊🏻 (💁🏻‍♀️ and when you are in push phase, do yoga 🙏. It makes it all sahhh much more manageable 😂. Game day, race day or competition day is a time to implement practices and protocols you know, trust and most importantly have tried a number of times. It is not a time to try new things in case you have an adverse response - which can be caused by so many reasons including the item it’s self, the environment, nerves or adrenaline. I often have people saying they ‘can only take water’ during a game or race, but the thing is of course you can only take that, if that’s all you have ever tried to use. In some instances or events that might be fine, but in many it’s not. Pre-season, training or minor competitions are the perfect time to practice your game day or race day plan. You train to get faster, stronger, or improve your skill execution, training your gut to take on additional food or fluids during a race or game is exactly the same. When it comes to game day or race day nutrition, practice make perfect.
